This artwork contains multiple layers of acrylic paint, modeling paste, sand, and a variety of found objects ranging from rubber rug grip pieces to lace from my mother’s sewing box. The horizontal line in the center begins as an uneven and broken trail and becomes dense as it appears under the gold overlay. The gold overlay represents the manifestation of a helio-centered soul, with tentacles that reach beyond the boundaries imposed by society. It symbolizes radical hope that transcends the limitations of heartbreak and disappointment.
